I am a qualified and practicing Psychotherapist. I would like to offer you a non judgemental space. I will listen to whatever you need to talk about. Whether it’s current or historical. We can explore it together, at your pace.

My profile

My name is Claire, I'm qualified, practicing and registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist (MBACP) I hold some of my clients most deepest secrets, some of which they are unable to share with anyone else in their lives and I often see them at their most vulnerable. So to achieve the best therapeutic outcome there needs to be trust. Finding the right person for you, is the most important

Counselling is not only helpful for traumatic life events, it can also help when you are at a crossroads, feeling stuck or having a huge sense that life is not what it could be.

Sometimes when feeling emotional unease, such as depression, anxiety, relationship or work issues, making any decision can be difficult. So I will aim to keep things simple, informative and as jargon-free as possible.

The uniqueness of the therapeutic relationship is like no other kind of relationship. It is a professional ethical contract where you will be valued, respected and listened to, in confidence and absolutely without judgement. Your lifestyle, your principles and your right to make your own decisions will be compassionately and respectively valued.

As a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) I adhere to their Code of Ethics and Framework for good practice. I work in a variety of ways to suit each individual person, be that CBT, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and person centered. I like to encourage my clients to explore their issues and work towards a better understanding of themselves and the world around them.

Counselling is a chance for you to explore unwanted and difficult emotions whilst feeling supported and safe. Together we look at finding your inner strengths so that you can build on them and begin to utilise them in everyday life, developing greater self awareness.

I have over 20 years experience of working with Victims AND Offenders of Domestic and Sexual abuse and rape. Including the courts and criminal justice procedures.

I have worked for Devon and Cornwall Constabulary, NHS, Sexual Assault Referral Centres and Domestic Abuse services in a specialised role offering support to victims and working closely with offenders in an attempt to understand their behaviours in the hope of change.

I have attended Home Office Serious Crime training which has equipped me with a greater understanding of working with victims and offenders of this crime and the trauma experienced as a result of being subjected to domestic and or sexual abuse and rape.
